A Day of Infamy

The President has made history. On May 9, 2012, Barack Obama endorsed gay marriage.[1] He is the first American president, ever, to take such a position. What a sad day indeed, when our national leader opened the door to infamy!

Should America choose to agree with the President, then God will have to apologize to the ancient citizens of Sodom and Gomorrah![2]

There have been many who have counseled me to dodge this topic. But then, what good would my word be if I waffled at the first hint of
pressure? How would that give you any confidence in sending me to Congress?

Throughout my campaign, I’ve consistently maintained a staunch support for the institution of marriage, which is the legal union between one man and one woman. Now that this view is being challenged by the President, it is the absolutely worst time for me to back away from standing up for what’s right!

Can I even consider the option of silence? No!  Since when did being politically correct become the standard by which we should measure the Ten Commandments or the Constitution?

It’s not my charge, nor will it ever be, to appease the crowds.

You want a Congressman who will represent you. When the pressure comes, and it will come hard and heavy, you need peace of mind, knowing that the man you send to Capitol Hill will speak and vote on your behalf. I’ve listened to you…at Town Hall Meetings, on the street, at churches,
in schools, at rallies and community events. You’ve voiced your concerns about the moral decline of our country. You’ve shared your hopes of returning America to the Constitutional and moral standards on which she was founded. Let me reassure you… I’ve heard you. And when you elect me to be your Congressman, I will faithfully represent you and steadfastly fight for all that is right!

Join me in this worthy battle. With your vote, together, we can and must defend marriage!

Inspect What You Expect!
An infuriating story has unfolded on Capitol Hill. Federal employees in the General Services Administration (GSA), though sworn to serve, have been living the life of royalty, instead. Unknowingly, you and I have been footing the bill for their lavish trips and exorbitant conferences.
Caught unaware, the Administration and Congress are reacting with severe crackdowns. Most of Capitol Hill has denounced the excessive spending. The Senate Environment and Public Works Committee have heard from the Acting GSA Administrator Dan Tangherlini and Inspector General Brian Miller as they attempted to explain the squandering of taxpayer’s money by GSA officials. The Justice Department has launched an investigation of Jeff Neely, a regional GSA commissioner.
While all of these steps are necessary and helpful, they don’t return the misappropriated $823,000. To prevent being duped in the future, we must adopt the policy, “Inspect what you expect!”
When I was Mayor of Addison, I kept a close tab on the city’s finances. Not only was I able to consistently reduce tax rates, but I also set aside $11,000,000 in reserve funds.
I will expect of myself, and every other congress person, to faithfully keep our promises of being frugal with your money. And what I expect, I will inspect. As your Congressman, I will keep a watchful eye on taxpayer money. Just as I’ve safely managed millions of dollars for the city of Addison, I will be vigilant in managing and protecting your hard earned tax dollars.

The Arlington Republican Club traditionally holds “straw votes” for an assortment of candidates invited to its monthly forums, generally with an emphasis on local candidates, plus the presidential race. Straw votes are taken as a matter of interest only and do not represent endorsement. Partisan races include GOP candidates only.
Here are the results of the straw vote polls.

STRAW-POLL Results For 2012 MAY 12 & 29 PRIMARIES

My family, probably like yours, just celebrated Earth Day. And what’s not to celebrate? With spring in full bloom, the world around us is
teeming with new life.

As we observe all the beauty and blessings we have on earth, we are each reminded the importance of caring for our planet. The EPA is
America’s governmental agency assigned with the responsibility to guide us in the management of our natural resources.

Lately, the issue of emissions has drawn the EPA’s attention to the drilling of the Barnett Shale here in North Texas. According to the
Texas Commission on Environmental Quality, the volatile organic compounds (VOC) which are being emitted from our region’s gas operations is roughly equivalent to that of all the emissions from cars, trucks and buses in North Texas.

“On April 17, 2012, the U.S. Environmental Protection Agency (EPA) issued cost-effective regulations, required by the Clean Air Act, to reduce harmful air pollution from the oil and natural gas industry while allowing continued, responsible growth in U.S. oil and natural gas production.” [i]

While the EPA is steadfast in its purpose to protect and preserve our environment, they are also aware of the potentially dire ramifications to our
economy this new rule presents. That is why they have revised the implementation deadline from 60 days to January 1, 2015.

I appreciate their moderating of the timeline. The EPA has now provided ample time for gas companies to discover and utilize environmentally friendly methods of drilling. By tapping into our own natural resources, America is becoming less dependent on other countries. And the
increased oil and natural gas production continues to bolster our economy.

When I was Mayor, my principles of governing were always designed to benefit the people.  Then and now, I understand the value of rules. Their purpose is to preserve and protect, while also guiding and empowering. When I’m your Congressman, I will endeavor to make sure the rules that are generated on Capitol Hill will be drafted with your best interest in mind.

I’ve traveled throughout the district. I’ve heard many voice their concerns. The strongest have been regarding our national economy. This is
something I’m passionate about…bringing America into financial stability through fiscal responsibility.

Political campaigns are often filled with an abundance of promises. What sets my campaign apart? Proof.

For the past 25 years, I’ve owned and operated one of Addison’s top ranked restaurants. And I’ve done it without the added burden of debt. How was I able to accomplish this feat in such a challenged economy? The power of cash and self discipline. I wasn’t afraid of hard work. Fueled with a vision, my determination drove me to save half of every paycheck. That’s how I was able to generate enough capital to purchase my restaurant. And it’s this same mentality which has not only maintained but propelled my restaurant into the solid, financially stable business it is today.

Self discipline, vision and responsibility have been the principles which have guided me to success. With the steady growth of my restaurant, I’ve been able to hire more employees. The prosperity of my business has provided stability so these employees can have security during a troubled economy.

When I was the Mayor of Addison, I was able to help reduce the tax rate to one of the lowest in all of Texas. I not only cut the property tax rate in 2006 and 2007, but I also helped Addison to achieve its first ever AAA bond rating. Only 5 out of 1,215 Texas cities have ever achieved this rating. And when the recession hit, Addison was well prepared. Under my leadership, Addison had $11 million in reserve funds.

As your congressman, I will deliver on the promises I’ve made…lower taxes, fiscal responsibility and a balanced budget. I will follow the same principles which have provided financial stability and prosperity to my business as well as to the city of Addison. You can be confident when you  place your trust in me. My promises are backed by proof.

CONCERNS FOR TEXANS

Obama threatens Supreme Court Justices

What arrogance. Obama and socialist leaning members of Congress say The Supreme Court will be

activists..IF.. they find ObamaCare in violation of the onstitution. Totally outrageous. That is why our Founders
created the Supreme Court, to provide protection from an overreaching government.

Joe Chow says, President “Obama violated protocol and embarrassed our Country again”

He doesn’t want a Job?? Vice President Biden!

Biden stated he stayed in the Senate for 36 years because he didn’t want to get a “real job” and have to “produce”.
Say What? I thought a Senator’s job was a real job, didn’t you?

Joe Chow says, “Get a real Job, January 2013!”

White House Stonewalling

White House staffers won’t answer questions about the Fast and Furious debacle that is costing lives, including Border Patrol officers! Why aren’t these people spending time in jail to encourage them to talk?

Joe Chow says, “Don’t mess with Texans, tell the truth, the whole truth and nothing but the truth or go to jail”

What will the Supremes decide about ObamaCare?

The Obamacare price has increased again to $17 Trillion. People keep finding “gotchas” in that huge damaging bill.

Joe Chow Says, “Taxpayers cannot afford Obamacare. Private industry can do better”.

Joe Chow says, “I will fight to Preserve, Protect and Defend the Constitution.”

YOU Go JOE – It is CHOW TIME!

On Tuesday, April 3rd, all of North Texas weathered one of the strongest and most prolific storms in recent history. Spawning a staggering 13 tornadoes, this storm system pummeled everything in its path.

After the storm clouds passed, residents and business owners began to assess the devastation. The EF2 tornado ripped through Kennedale and Arlington with winds howling in at 135mph. Approximately 5 businesses, and 50 homes were damaged in Kennedale; more than 500 homes and apartments in Southwest Arlington were mauled by this massive storm. The tornadoes continued to twist through 5 counties, taking a heavy toll on 9 cities, seriously damaging hundreds of homes and businesses. (1)

Yet, in the wake of all the destruction, “we are only seeing minor injuries, which is amazing with a storm of this magnitude,” reported Lt. Darrel
Whitfield of the Arlington Fire Department. The preservation of life may be attributed, in part, to the preparedness of North Texas businesses, government offices, schools, and universities. Operating efficiently, people were directed to safe locations to wait out the duration of the storms. (2)

Less than 24 hours later and the sun was shining. However, for many families and businesses, the dark clouds of dismay and agony continued
to loom overhead. Governor Rick Perry came to survey the overwhelming amount of damage. He voiced all of our sentiments when he said, “Standing here in the rubble of these homes and people’s irreplaceable treasures … You have to thank God it wasn’t worse,…”

It’s ironic how this storm launched it obtrusive invasion into Holy Week. For thousands of Jews and Christians, this is the holiest time of the year. With the beginning of Passover (Pesach) and Good Friday leading into Easter, many are left wondering, ‘where is the message of these brations?’ But in the midst of tremendous loss, the message is still the same: redemption.

Even before the storm clouds had dissipated, hope was planted as the first response teams appeared on the scene. The arduous task of the assive clean up has begun.  The American Red Cross, (3) and Salvation Army (4) along with many local businesses and churches have banded together to offer aid and support. By providing meals, distributing supplies, and operating shelters, they are demonstrating redemption in action. This is where you and I come in to the story. We also can play a part. We can join forces with our local churches and synagogues. Through contributing our time, donations and financial gifts, we will continue to bring to life the message of redemption to those affected by the storms. What better
way can we honor the celebrations of Passover and Easter?

It’s ironic how incomplete information can paint a convoluted picture. And that’s precisely what has happened. A local newspaper has drawn a skewed version of a past event I attended, which has created a false impression. I’ve called this press conference so we can clean up this misunderstanding by presenting the truth.
On September 11, 2005, I was invited as an honored guest at “Unity Day USA”, a celebration including people of diverse faith, race, ethnicity, culture and background. The purpose for this event was to “pray for peace, healing, unity and security.” Participating in this special event were religious leaders of seven major faiths: Bahai, Christian, Hindu, Jain, Jewish, Muslim, Sikh and Zoroastrian. Additionally, amongst those in attendance were a varied group of civic and governmental dignitaries: Richard Sombrano, Dept. of Justice, Guadalupe Gonzales, FBI Chief, Mary Ann Thompson, Philanthropist, Dr. Hobson Wiledenthal, Provost at University of Texas at Dallas, Pat Evans, Mayor of Plano, Mike Simpson, Mayor of Frisco, Terry Simmons, Councilman (Carrollton), and Bob Townsend, Councilman (Richardson).
To infer that by attending “Unity Day USA”, I was supporting any one group, to the detriment of any other group(s), is nothing short of ludicrous! As the mayor of Addison, I did exactly what I will continue to do once I’m elected to Congress…and that is faithfully uphold the Constitution and represent each of my constituents. I respect, and honor every American citizen…without prejudice for, nor discrimination against any person. I am a true student of the Constitution; I continually study and refer to the Constitution for direction. The First Amendment offers solid guidance for situations such as this action called into question.
Congress shall make no law respecting an establishment of religion, or prohibiting the free exercise thereof;
or abridging the freedom of speech, or of the press; or the right of the people peaceably to assemble, and to
petition the government for a redress of grievances.
The First Amendment makes it clear…all public servants are required to represent every constituent, regardless of his/her religious affiliations. My personal life, as well as my life in public service, is governed by integrity. I do what I promise. That’s how I’ve earned, built and retained the trust of those I have served. When I took the oath to serve as Mayor to the great city of Addison, I committed to serve every citizen…with honesty and diligence…without partiality. Ethnicity, national heritage, socio-economic position or religious affiliations have never, nor will they ever compromise my dedication to serve those entrusted into my care.
Yes, I kept my promise…and will continue to do so….by representing all of my constituents…fairly and with equal regard.
Thank you and God bless you.

Former Addison Mayor Joe Chow wants to establish himself as the candidate to defeat incumbent Rep. Joe Barton from Ennis.

Chow, Republican candidate for Texas Congressional District 6, spoke about ending President Barack Obama’s healthcare law, immigration, taxes, states’ rights and big government but took much issue with his incumbent opponent’s time in office. The former mayor stated his case during a campaign event Saturday morning at College Park Center.

“I am for smaller government, lower taxes and fiscal responsibility,” Chow said. “And also, term limits. My opponent, Mr. Barton, has been in office for 28 years. He proposed term limits in 1997, and he forgot about it.”<

Chow went on to say he has the most business experience among Republican contenders for the Congressional seat and will listen to constituents.

As congressman, Chow said he would fight to better secure the borders, eliminate the U.S. Department of Education and end all foreign aid to other countries.

“We need to take care of our own people living in the United States,” he said.

He added that the government ought to drill in the United States and not buy from foreign nations, such as the ones that are members of OPEC, the Organization of Petroleum Exporting Countries.

Barton campaign spokesman Sean Brown refuted some of Chow’s remarks in a statement.

“Anyone who alleges that Congressman Barton has lost passion for representing the people of the 6th District either isn’t paying attention or is being disingenuous to try and score political points,” Brown said. “You can watch the Congressman on the House floor or in hearings; he fights for the values of those who elected him. Rep. Barton has lived in the 6th District almost his entire adult life, unlike some of his opponents, so he knows the people and shares many of their same core conservative beliefs.”

Brown explained Barton’s budget vote, saying his vote kept a promise he made to voters – to balance the budget and cut spending.

Allan Saxe, political science associate professor, said there is much dissatisfaction with the Obama administration and Congress as a whole.

“The burden and challenge for Republicans is to mobilize somehow this dissatisfaction on the part of the public,” he said. “Congressional disapproval with both Republicans and Democrats is very high. There is weak leadership in both Congressional Democrats and Republicans.”

Saxe added there is an anti-incumbent mood at all levels of government, but it’s difficult to translate that sentiment into votes for a particular party.

Our freedoms are steadily being eroded!

The Patient Protection and Affordable
Care Act (PPACA),
also known as ObamaCare, may be one of the deadliest Trojan horses to assault
American liberties!

Don’t have insurance? That’s okay. Uncle Sam will make sure
that you do. Initially, The Patient Protection and
Affordable Care Act appears to be a caring and generous provision. But you have
only to dig slightly below the surface to discover the attached dangers. It’s
not a provision, but rather a requirement. If you don’t have insurance, you
will be obligated to purchase the
presidentially designed plan. Either buy the “suggested” ObamaCare plan, or be
subject to pay a penalty. Being told what to purchase by the government… that’s
evidence of one more freedom eroding away.

Upon further inspection, we find another danger in ObamaCare.
No longer will there be a block of direct taxpayer funding of abortions. Bypassing
the Hyde Amendment, this cleverly designed plan hides its insidious purpose: to
mandate murder. Every taxpayer who purchases insurance coverage through ObamaCare
will be required to subsidize the funding of abortions and the abortion pill.

The power behind this plan is that it entices insurance
companies by guaranteeing that the federal government will pay part or all of a
person’s insurance premium. The ante is raised by promising this guarantee,
even if the individual’s earning power is up to 400% above the poverty level. According
to pro-life advocate, Jill Stanek, “the rule states insurance companies will
not be allowed to mention the surcharge in their advertising.” After the individual
enrolls in the insurance plan, only at that point, obscured within 20 pages of
fine print, will one ever see the explanation for the $1 monthly surcharge.

Charmaine Yoest, president of Americans United for Life,
said “President Obama’s healthcare overhaul includes an ‘abortion premium
mandate’ that blatantly violates the conscience rights and First Amendment
religious rights of millions of Americans,….Nowhere in the Constitution does it
require Americans to violate their beliefs and pay for abortions.”

Displaying evidence of moral bankruptcy, if allowed to come
into full fruition, ObamaCare may very well bankrupt our already fragile
economy.

The Patient Protection and Affordable
Care Act now stands before the Supreme Court, being challenged as to its
constitutionality. The nine justices will issue their decision by the end of
June 2012.

Should ObamaCare continue to stand, as your Congressman, I
will work to see the PPACA defunded and repealed at the federal level and
nullified at the state level.

Arbitrary power is most easily established on the ruins of liberty abused to licentiousness. – George Washington

It’s official. President Obama has signed HR 347 into law. Known as the Federal Restricted Buildings and Grounds Improvement Act of 2011, at a cursory glance, it looks simple, direct and valid. The purpose of the law is to provide an additional level of protection for the president and other dignitaries.

Take a closer look, however, and some alarming issues surface. If the Secret Service, Department of Homeland Security or federal courts deem that you’re in the wrong place at the wrong time, you could be arrested, detained, fined or incarcerated (up to 1
year).

The danger lies in the ambiguity of terminology. Just how close is “proximity”? How is “restricted” defined and/or communicated?

(1) the term ‘restricted buildings or grounds’ means any posted, cordoned off, or otherwise (italics, mine) restricted area— The most disconcerting is this word, “otherwise”. That has all of the substance of cotton candy.

Given too much power to wield, and without clear parameters, this new law has the potential of stealing our freedoms from us.

According to the 1st Amendment to the Constitution, we have freedom of speech, and the right to assemble, peaceably. Yet, has HR 347 nullified those rights?

Few Americans had any idea what was transpiring on Capitol Hill. HR 347 flew in under the radar.

Surely, our brave servicemen and women aren’t fighting to preserve the freedom of America, only to have the current administration and Congress legislate us into a police state!

This is precisely the reason why I’m running for Congress…to help safeguard our country  from such threatening assaults on our freedoms.

A Day of Infamy

A Day of Infamy   The President has made history. On May 9, 2012, Barack Obama endorsed gay marriage.[1] He is the first American president, ever, to take such a position. What a sad day indeed, when our national leader opened the door to infamy! Should America choose to agree with the President, then God will have to apologize to the ancient citizens of Sodom and Gomorrah![2] There have been many who have counseled me to dodge this topic. But then, what good would my word be if I waffled at the first hint of pressure? How would that give…..

The Senate Environment and Public Works Committee have heard from the Acting GSA Administrator Dan Tangherlini and Inspector General Brian Miller as they attempted to explain the squandering of taxpayer’s money by…..

Barnett Shale and EPA Regulation

My family, probably like yours, just celebrated Earth Day. And what’s not to celebrate? With spring in full bloom, the world around us is teeming with new life. As we observe all the beauty and blessings we have on earth, we are each reminded the importance of caring for our planet. The EPA is America’s governmental agency assigned with the responsibility to guide us in the management of our natural resources. Lately, the issue of emissions has drawn the EPA’s attention to the drilling of the Barnett Shale here in North Texas. According to the Texas Commission on Environmental Quality,…..
